This week is week three in the trimester and we meet are new teacher i'm glad to have a him back. Its hard having a sub because they don't quite know the class as much as the original teacher does. We continued the conversations about a hero's journey but we read about a real hero and his journey for fame. Although in the end he did get the fame the ending surprised me. All the soldiers that he gave the chance for that fame abandoned him at his time of need. All that is except for one. I couldn't help but think what if that was me would anyone come to my rescue? Would i go to there's? After i thought this i looked at the story again.
The soldier that stayed said to the others in so many words that he picked us and trusted our words. Yet now that the time is here you flee? He would come to us in our time of need. After saying this he went into the battle area and fought. Ultimately he won. You may be thinking you would do the same thing.Yet what if i told you the man he went to fight for was his king and he was fighting a fire breathing dragon? That changes things doesn't it. That is when i really understood the whole point of this story and the meaning of a hero's journey.
I learned this week that a hero's journey inst always about the heroic moments. It is but it is also about inspiring others to be selfless and stand up for those who cant and be the glimmer of hope people need.
